Kek Lok Si is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. Situated at Air Itam in Penang, this compound is 30-acres in size.
It has 3 segments with its highest segment that host a gigantic statue of the Goddess of Mercy.
Take a seat at this pavilion at the peak near the gigantic Goddess of Mercy statue. This is where you can sit, enjoy the view and have a rest.
Besides the statue, the seven-story, 30-meter high pagoda of Rama VI is the next key highlight of this premises. The pagoda’s architecture comprises of Chinese (on the lower 2 tier), Thai (on the middle tier) and Burmese (top-tier). You will be rewarded with an astonishing view by scaling up the pagoda.
From this view, you can see the pagoda standing stand and a part of the temple’s premises. Climbing up the pagoda is slightly challenging as the steps and walkways get narrower as you reach the top.
Getting to the entrance
You can get a taxi to the main entrance of the temple. But to enjoy the full experience, you should take the inclined lift and buggy transfer to the main entrance.
Don’t forget to get some photos here as they make a good collection of memories! Here’s mine to share!
