Day road trip to Cape Kamui – 神威岬

Cape Kamui (神威岬) is at the western part of Hokkaido and it is about 2.5hrs drive away from Sapporo City! This is an unforgettable experiences that make every moment truly worthwhile.

Getting there by car is fun and we did a few stops along the way, such as the less touristy spots like Yoichi where we visited the science museum and Fugoppe Cave. ❤️

Additionally, stopping by Ebisu and Daikoku Rocks!

The gate at the front of the trail stated “The Forbidden Gate for Women”. There’s a legend that a chief’s daugther (Charenka) threw herself into the sea. And when any ship with a woman onboard approached that rock would capsize. Hence, it became a forbidden place for women in the early Meiji Era.

Took the walking trail (Charenka’s Path) to the tip and was rewarded to the breathtaking view of the Kamui Rock.

The walk is about 770m that also includes of walking up and down stairs! Also this mesmerizing blend of rugged cliffs and the deep blue sea is known as “Shakotan Blue,”

OH OH! yes, there’s also a Lighthouse too!

Check out this majestic Kamui Rock which stands as a sentinel over the breathtaking expanse of the Sea of Japan <3
